Its all about the upbringings

A couple of months ago, I was at the Delhi Airport waiting to board the bus to my Indigo flight. As the bus arrived at the terminal, all the passengers rushed in quickly to grab a seat. Unfortunately, only a few of them got. There was a family of 3 people who were the lucky ones to get a seat, middle-aged father, mother, and an approx. 10-year old kid. While I was standing in the bus, I noticed an old man (approx. 75-years-old) standing at a distance with his luggage, and struggling to maintain his balance. Its all about the upbringings.

Before I could help him, the young kid who was comfortably seated stood up and told the old man – “Uncle aap meri seat le lijiye“. He grabbed his hand and helped the man to get seated. The man who was ecstatic with the gesture, smiled and blessed the young kid.

While the incident is good in a way that kids of the younger generation are empathetic and have moral values within, it is also sad that the kids’ father didn’t get up to offer the seat to the old man. Any which ways, the incident was a bliss to the eyes and I wish the younger generation continues to impress us with their empathetic gestures.
