A conversation with a Dosa Seller

Dosa Seller

“Anna 1 masala dosa dena” – I asked the owner of a small South Indian shop “Sir, 1 hour ki waiting hai, uske baad hi number aaega.”- he smiled “I will wait”- I replied Meanwhile, I initiated a conversation with a Dosa Seller and the answers really inspired me to the core.

Here’s a gist of the conversation I had with him – “Anna, since when are you here in North India and what motivated you to come here?”-I asked “Sir, I am from Madurai and was born in a very poor family. My father taught me the art of cooking dosas and I have been making it for 15 years now”

“One of my relatives who had a dosa joint in Noida booked my ticket and I started to work for him. I worked with him for 2 years and then I put up a small thela nearby”

“Customers really liked my dosa and advised me to open a shop. Eventually, after a year, I rented this shop for Rs 50k/month. The response has been amazing ever since” -he replied “50K/month! Isn’t it too much?

Are you able to recover all of it?”-I asked curiously “Sir, itna to 1 weekend pe hi aa jata hai. Now, I am planning to open 2-3 shops for my relatives also, so that they can also earn money and live happily “-he replied with a smile I was glad to have met him.

If not anything else, he is a true hero for many people back in his village!
