A conversation with a Delivery Boy

Delivery Boy

A couple of days ago, I ordered a pair of shoes from Myntra.

Delivery Boy called me to collect the shoes

The Delivery Boy called me to collect the shoes as he was standing outside my office.

As soon as he handed me the delivery package, he delivery boy said – “Sir ek SMS aaega, please feedback de dijiyega. Mujhe Rs.1 mil jaaega.” I looked at him in dismay, and asked him – “Kitne rupaye?” To which he replied again – “Sir, 1 rupiya. Kar dijiyega please”.

I felt bad for the delivery partner as the amount was way too less to be counted as an incentive and I offered him a few bucks as a tip for his service.

I told him – “Sir, feedback bhar dunga par ye bhi rakh lijiye”. To this he replied with a smile – “Sir, main ye nahi lunga. Company jitna bhi deti hai main usi se khush hi. Mehnat karke paise kamaata rahunga”. I immediately filled up the form as the delivery partner left the place with a big smile on his face.

The entire incident left me thinking, how these people are working day and night irrespective of the weather conditions and yet they are content with their earnings.

Can’t we as customers be a little more cordial and treat them with a little more respect? It would definitely mean the world to them. Thoughts!!
