What is your name? I asked a 19-year-old boy working at my college tuck shop. ‘Vijay, he replied with a smile.
Sky is a limit you are the first person on this campus to ask my name, while other students call me Anna only. (while a customer meeting in Karnataka) – he explained.
Vijay was reading some book and out of curiosity, I asked – ‘What are you reading Vijay bhai?’ I am doing my B.com and my final exams are scheduled in next week. I am preparing for the same. Since my family isn’t rich, I work here after my college is over and study whenever I get free. – and Vijay smiled again.
I just wished him good luck and prayed for his success. Yesterday, while browsing through my Facebook account, I came to learn that Vijay has got a job in ITC limited and is also pursuing his executive MBA. From selling ITC products within a small tuck shop to getting a job in one of India’s topmost FMCG company, is really commendable. More power to Vijay and people like him who sponsor their education during childhood and become successful. Can people/ the government do something to sponsor education of such talented students?
In what ways can we inspire more people from rural India to take education seriously?
